Quick Container Refresh Option #1
Spruce up containers for color that will last through early spring! The Thriller, Filler, Spiller method is the perfect equation for stunning mixed containers. Lemon cypress acts as your thriller, pansies as your filler, and creeping jenny as your spiller for that perfect waterfall effect. This DIY uses a gorgeous purple and green color scheme, but feel free to make it your own!
Quick Container Refresh
Supplies
- 3.5 Inch Pansies or Violas
- 3.5 Inch Creeping Jenny
- 6 Inch Lemon Cypress
- Pike Potting & Container Soil
- Dr. Earth® Root Zone Starter Fertilizer
Instructions
- Gather all of your plants - the amount you will need will vary by the size of your container. In this DIY, we used 5 - 3.5 Inch pansies, 4 - 3.5 Inch creeping jenny, and 1 - 6 Inch lemon cypress.
- Fill your container with Pike Potting & Container Soil. Sprinkle in a handful of Dr. Earth® Root Zone.
- Take lemon cypress out of the grower's pot, and loosen up the soil around the roots. Dig a small hole in the center of the container and place lemon cypress
- Take all of your pansies and creeping jenny out of their pots and loosen the soil around the roots and place them around the lemon cypress.
- Add in more dirt around your freshly planted blooms and pack around the plants.
- Water generously and voila! Place in an area that gets full to partial sun.

- 3.5 Inch Pansies
- 3.5 Inch Creeping Jenny
- Pike Potting & Container Soil
- Dr. Earth® Root Zone
Instructions
- Gather all of your plants - the amount you will need will vary by the size of your container. In this DIY, we used 8 - 3.5 Inch pansies, 4 - 3.5 Inch creeping jenny.
- Fill your container with Pike Potting & Container Soil. Sprinkle in a handful of Dr. Earth® Root Zone.
- Take all of your pansies and creeping jenny out of their pots and loosen the soil around the roots and place them around your container. Plant the creeping around the edges of your container.
- Add in more dirt around your freshly planted blooms and pack around the plants.
- Water generously. Place in an area that gets full to partial sun.
