planting grass seed. It provides a place to relax, play with the kids or let
the pup out to run. There are many types of sod that do well in our region. All the sod sold at Pike Nurseries is grown in Georgia so it perfectly acclimated to the Southeast. Here's a guide to selecting the best sod for your yard.
Warm Season Sod
Most lawns in the
Southeast use a warm season sod. These are sods that work well in our climate tolerating the heat, humidity, and most have drought resistance. It's best to lay warm season
sod during its growing season which is mid-spring through summer.
Zoysia Zeon Sod
Most popular! This Southern sod with dense growth, soft texture, and deep green color. Slow-growing which means you'll mow less.

Zoysia El Toro Sod
The most

Centipede Sod

Bermuda Tifway 419 Sod
A great
all-around sod for landscapes with dark green, thin blades. A durable Bermudagrass

Bermuda TifGrand Sod
A great sod for

Bermuda TifTuf Sod
Bred at the University
of Georgia, TifTuf is the fastest Bermuda sod to establish roots, plus it has high
drought resistance while keeping its color and quality. Uses 38% less water
than other Bermudas. Fastest to green up in spring.

Cool Season Sod
Enjoy a green
lawn year round with a cool season sod like Fescue. It can withstand cold
freezes and bounce back. Without the same heat tolerance as a warm season sod, Fescue needs more
regular water and reseeding. It's best to lay cool season sod once
the temperatures cool off in fall through early winter.
Fescue Sod
The ultimate
cool season sod for the Southeast. A great, lush sod with a deep green color
year-round. Over-seeding is highly recommended.
